Privacy Policy

Mog Check ("the App") is an entertainment app that uses AI to compare photos and deliver absurd, humorous verdicts. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, what we don't, and how we handle it.

1. Photos You Upload

A battle usually involves more than one person. A head-to-head battle sends two photos; a Group Mog sends between three and six. Every photo you submit is sent for analysis, whether or not it is a photo of you.

When you submit photos for a battle, they are:

• Resized on your device to a maximum of 832px before leaving the App
• Sent to a server-side function that passes them to Google Gemini for AI analysis
• Not saved — unless you have turned on "Save my battle photos" in Settings → Privacy, which is off by default. With it off, no photos are retained: they exist only for the duration of the AI call and are discarded immediately afterwards.
• Saved only when you have turned that setting on, in which case a small thumbnail and the resized (≤832px) image are stored so your past battles show your photos. In a Group Mog, only the first-place and last-place photos are kept even with saving on — every other photo is discarded immediately.
• Stored privately and tied to your anonymous account — not visible to other users. Our team can access stored photos and battles only when needed for customer support, content moderation, and abuse prevention. We never use your photos for marketing and never share or publish them.
• Never used to train AI models

You are in control. "Save my battle photos" is off by default, and while it is off no photos are retained. The written verdict for a battle is kept as part of your battle record either way — it is text only and contains no imagery. Photos that are already saved can be permanently deleted anytime in the App via Settings → Your Data → "Delete battle history & photos" (or delete your entire account with "Delete account & all data"). We do not perform facial recognition, generate facial templates, or collect any biometric data from your photos.

Only upload photos you have the right to share. If you upload a photo of someone else — a friend, a classmate, anyone who has not installed this App — you are responsible for having their permission. This matters most before you turn photo saving on, because saving retains every photo in the battle, not only yours.

2. Data We Collect

We collect only what's necessary to run the App:

• Anonymous user ID — a random identifier created automatically via Supabase anonymous authentication. It is not linked to your real identity.
• Battle usage count — how many battles you've run today, used to enforce free tier limits.
• Daily challenge votes — your participation in the Daily Mog Challenge.
• Analytics events — anonymous, aggregated feature usage (e.g., which modes you use) to help us improve the App.
• Subscription status — whether you have an active Mog Pass, managed via RevenueCat.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
• Facial recognition data, facial templates, or biometric identifiers
• Location data
• Contacts or address book

We never ask you for your name, email address, phone number, or contacts, and we have no way to look up who you are. Two honest qualifications, though: the photos you upload may themselves show identifiable people, and our advertising partner receives device identifiers. See sections 1 and 5.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — anonymous authentication, usage data, and private storage of your saved battle photos. Privacy Policy
• RevenueCat — subscription management. Privacy Policy
• Google Gemini — AI photo analysis. Photos are sent for analysis only and are not stored by Google for this use case per Google's API terms.
• Google AdMob — advertising for free users. Privacy Policy

5. Advertising

Free users see two different kinds of ads, both served by Google AdMob. Subscribers see no ads at all. Your photos are never shared with advertisers.

• Rewarded ads — optional videos you choose to watch in exchange for a bonus battle. These only ever play after you tap to watch one.
• Interstitial ads — a full-screen ad shown automatically, without being requested, while your verdict is being generated. These appear roughly every third battle. They are never shown on your first two battles, and never to subscribers.

• AdMob may collect device information (such as device model, OS version, and IP address) and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads. See how Google uses advertising data.
• On iOS, personalized ads use the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, you still see ads — non-personalized ones, which are not based on your activity across other companies' apps and websites.
• In regions covered by GDPR, a consent form is shown before any ads load, and you can choose non-personalized ads.
• You can reset or limit your advertising identifier anytime in your device settings.

6. Subscriptions

Mog Pass purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We never see or store your payment information. We use RevenueCat only to confirm whether an active subscription exists.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

• Photos: When saving is enabled (the default), your battle photos are kept as part of your battle history until you delete them. When saving is disabled in Settings, photos are not stored at all.
• Usage data (battle counts, votes, basic analytics): Retained while your account exists and deleted when you delete your account.
• Anonymous account: Persists until you delete it in the App (or uninstall and lose the session).
• Deleting your data: Settings → Your Data → "Delete battle history & photos" removes every stored photo and past battle. "Delete account & all data" permanently erases everything tied to your anonymous account, including the account itself. Both take effect immediately.

8. Children's Privacy

Mog Check is rated 12+ on the App Store and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App, please contact us and we will delete any associated data.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws — including the right to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you. You can exercise deletion directly in the App: Settings → Your Data lets you permanently delete your stored photos and battle history, or your entire account and all associated data, with immediate effect. You can also stop further photo saving anytime by turning off "Save my battle photos" in Settings → Privacy. For anything else, contact us at the address below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
